What is a Guarantor?
A guarantor is someone who the owner/landlord can ask to pay the rent on behalf of the tenant if they are unable. Think of a co-signer for your accommodation.
What is Reikin (key money)?
A Fee paid to the owner or landlord on signing contract. Usually 1-2 months rent. It
is a non-refundable cash gif.
What is Shikikin?
It is your security deposit. Which is usually 2-4 months rent. It is most often returned if no damaged was incurred during your stay.
What is Koushinryou?
This is a renewal fee that is typically equal to 1 months rent and is paid to the building owner.
What is Kanrihi?
This is a monthly building fee that is usually added to your monthly rent.
Are parking spots included with apartments?
In some cases the cost of a parking space is not included in the monthly rent. Parking spaces usually cost from ¥40,000 – ¥70,000/ month depending on the building and area.
What about pets?
This depends on your landlord. In some cases a landlord may allow cats but not dogs, or the opposite, or small dogs but not big dogs.
